Wooden Storage Furniture Production is a practical and competency-based module designed to equip TVET Level V Wood Technology learners with the knowledge, skills, and appropriate attitudes required to accurately and efficiently produce wooden storage furniture. The module focuses on applying design specifications, technical drawings, measurements, cutting lists, production procedures, woodworking tools and equipment, material selection, joint preparation, assembly, finishing, and mounting while maintaining required quality and safety standards.
The module is organized into three progressive learning outcomes. Learners first develop the ability to interpret storage furniture drawings, including identifying views and sections, interpreting dimensions, preparing cutting lists, and establishing operational sequences. They then learn to prepare wooden workpieces by selecting appropriate tools, materials and equipment; measuring, planing, cutting, shaping, preparing joints, and smoothing workpieces according to design specifications and woodworking procedures. Finally, learners develop competence in joining wooden workpieces, including trial and permanent assembly, adjustment of diagonals and angles, finishing, mounting, and fixing doors and drawers.
