his module introduces learners to the principles, components, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical power plant systems. It provides a foundation for understanding how electrical energy is generated, transformed, controlled, protected, and delivered from power generation facilities to the electrical grid.

The module covers the main types of power plants, including hydroelectric, thermal, solar, wind, and other renewable energy systems, with emphasis on their basic operating principles and major components. Learners study power plant electrical installations such as generators, transformers, switchgear, busbars, circuit breakers, protection systems, control systems, cables, auxiliary systems, and earthing arrangements.

The module also introduces the principles of power plant layout and installation, electrical safety, equipment selection, wiring and cabling, commissioning, testing, inspection, preventive maintenance, and fault identification. Learners develop an understanding of how different plant components work together to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power generation.
