🧱 MODULE: TILE WORKS

This module describes the knowledge, skills, and attitude to be acquired in order to place tiles properly on walls, stairs, and floors.

It is intended to be pursued by learners at TVET Level IV Building Construction.

🎯 What will you learn in this module?

At the end of this module, the learner will be able to:

  • Prepare the working area before tile installation.
  • Select appropriate tile-work materials.
  • Select and use appropriate tools.
  • Select and operate appropriate equipment.
  • Measure and mark surfaces correctly.
  • Cut tiles according to required dimensions.
  • Apply and fix tiles on walls, stairs, and floors.
  • Perform grouting between tiles.
  • Clean the completed tiled surface.
  • Clean and organize the workplace after completing the work.

Learners will develop knowledge about:

  • Types of tiles and their applications.
  • Tile-work tools and their functions.
  • Tile-work equipment.
  • Tile adhesives, mortar, grout, and other materials.
  • Surface preparation requirements.
  • Methods of measuring, cutting, laying, and grouting tiles.
