Enrolment options

This is a beginner-level course in Photovoltaic Home System Installation. However, we have 100 hours allocated to the course, which gives us enough time to progress gradually—from the basic principles of solar photovoltaic systems to fairly complex installation work.

During this course, we will learn about solar photovoltaic technology, how solar energy can be converted into electrical energy, how to assess electrical energy requirements, how to select and size PV system components, and how to safely install, connect, test and commission a photovoltaic system.

By the end of the course, I expect you to be able to design and install a 5,000-watt, or 5-kilowatt, solar photovoltaic system. Such a system can be suitable for many homes and small businesses, particularly where there is a need for backup during utility power failures or where the user wants to reduce electricity costs.

Solar photovoltaic technology allows us to make use of the free and clean energy from the sun to power our electrical equipment. As we move through this course, you will see how this abundant energy source can be transformed into a practical and reliable electrical power system.

Because this is an e-learning course, you will have opportunities to learn at your own pace, access learning materials online, participate in discussions and activities, and then apply what you have learned through practical exercises.

I encourage you to be active throughout the course. Ask questions, participate in discussions, complete the activities, and do not be afraid of making mistakes. Learning photovoltaic installation is both theoretical and practical, and the more you practise, the more confident you will become.

I am looking forward to learning and working with all of you.

Welcome to Photovoltaic Home System Installation, and let's begin our journey into the world of solar energy!
