This Garment Construction module provides TVET Level 3 high school learners in Rwanda with the foundational hands-on technical skills required to transform two-dimensional fabrics into professionally assembled three-dimensional garments. Designed under the Rwanda TVET Qualification Framework (RTQF) with a heavy emphasis on practical application, the course guides students through workshop safety, sewing machine operation, standard seam construction, component assembly—such as collars, sleeves, pockets, and waistbands—and final garment finishing techniques. By mastering basic garment assembly, seam allowances, fitting adjustments, and quality control procedures on foundational items like skirts, trousers, and shirts, learners develop the essential competencies, precision, and work readiness needed for entry-level roles in Rwanda’s growing apparel manufacturing and fashion design sector.
