A lead-acid battery contains sulfuric acid, which is corrosive, and can produce hydrogen gas, which is highly flammable. During in-car battery servicing, technicians should select and correctly wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect themselves from acid splashes, sparks, dirt, and other workshop hazards.
