This module equips learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and attitudes required to carry out effective maintenance of non-bituminous pavements. Learners will develop competence in identifying pavement defects, assessing their causes and severity, planning maintenance activities, selecting appropriate materials, tools, and equipment, and performing maintenance works safely and efficiently.

The module covers the maintenance of non-bituminous pavement structures such as gravel roads, murram roads, cobblestone pavements, and other unsealed road surfaces. Learners will gain practical experience in activities including inspection and assessment of pavement conditions, drainage maintenance, pothole repair, grading, reshaping, compaction, replacement of damaged materials, and restoration of pavement surfaces.

Emphasis is also placed on workplace safety, environmental protection, quality control, proper use of tools and equipment, and teamwork. Upon successful completion of this module, learners will be able to contribute effectively to maintaining safe, durable, functional, and sustainable non-bituminous road infrastructure.
