QUALITY CONTROL OF RAW ANIMAL PRODUCTS

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to assist in raw animal products inspection. At the end of this module, trainees will be able to prepare workplace for raw animal products inspection, to apply raw animal products inspection techniques, to assist in laboratory testing and to carry out post inspection activities.

Companion animals management

This module covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to participate in companion animal’s management. Therefore, upon completion of this module, the trainee will be able to construct companion animal houses, keep companion animals, train companion animals and control companion animal diseases.

VETERINARY ETHICS AND JURISPRUDENCE


This module describes the skills and knowledge required to apply veterinary ethics and jurisprudence. Upon completion of this module the trainee will be able to apply animal welfare principles, apply veterinary ethics and comply with laws and regulations of veterinary profession

Fish farming operations

 

 This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to perform

Fisheries and aquaculture. It is intended to the learners pursuing TVET Certificate

V in Animal health. Upon completion of this module the learners will be able to

Install aquaculture system, assist in hatching operations, perform nursery

activities, grow and harvest fishes.


OPERATING FARM MACHINERY

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to operate farm

machine. It is intended to the learners pursuing TVET Certificate V in Animal

Health. Upon completion of this module, the learner will be able to check farm

machine before use, use farm machine and apply maintenance of farm machine.

Qualified learners deemed competent may work alone or with others under

supervision


ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION

This module describes the knowledge, skills and attitude required to perform animal artificial Insemination. It is intended to the learners pursuing TVET Certificate V in Animal health.

Upon completion of this module the learner will be able to collect semen, process semen, prepare female for artificial insemination,

inseminate the female and assist in embryo-transfer.


BEEKEEPING OPERATIONS

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to perform beekeeping. At the end of this module, trainees will be able to install apiary, to keep honey bees, to harvest honey and honey bee products and to control honey bee diseases, pests, and predators.

NECROPSY EVALUATION

This module describes the knowledge and skills required for assisting to Necropsy evaluation. The module provide the essential for performing a pre-necropsy evaluation prior to necropsy procedures. The evaluation of body systems will be explained target the observation of macroscopic findings related to the cause of death. Before ending this module, you will be provided with essential knowledge that will help you to assist to laboratory sample analysis towards a decision of the Necropsy evaluation. MAJOR SURGERY

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to assist in Major surgery. It is intended to the learners pursuing TVET Certificate V in Animal health. Upon completion of this module the learner will be able to perform preoperative activities, assist in surgical operations, perform post-operative care activities under minimum supervision. The module aims to provide you the required knowledge and skills that will help you to assist to surgical operations. 

In this module the pre-operative activities prior to Major surgery procedures will be described. An emphasize will be made on the surgical operations to be performed following a regional body approach and the post-operative activities will lead  you to the conclusion of the module.
