    Introduction

    The role of plumbing in our lives as humans is simply remarkable. Plumbing has continued to solve the urgent need of delivering fresh clean water, whilst draining out the foul liquid wastes simultaneously from our homes.

    The fresh water is transported by pressure from your water storage unit, a well or from your city’s public fresh water system. The other, often referred to as waste water is taken out of your home through gravity applied to the “discharge pipes” to a place called a “sewer” or “septic tank”. All these processes are done through the water pipes. The slimmer ones are typically the ones holding your clean water while the fatter ones, well you probably guessed right–waste water; basically.

    This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitudes required by a trainee to perform pipe joining. It involves Identification and Selection of tools, equipment and materials to be used and Clipping the pipe work according to the location in order to have a strong and tightened pipeline.

  • Learning Outcome 1: Prepare the work

    Objectives: 

    By the end of this learning outcome, the trainees will be able to:

    1. Use PPEs Properly as per safety standards

    2. Clean Working area /site accordingly

    3. Sketch the work properly according to the pipe system

    4. Mark Pipe lines correctly according to the pipe work layout

    5. Drill Holes and excavate trenches appropriately according to the pipe size

    Select Tools properly according to the works

    Select Materials properly according to the works

    Select Equipment properly according to the works


  • Learning Outcome 3: perform pipes joining methods

    Objectives:

    By the end of this learning outcome, the trainees will be able to:

    Identify properly the types of pipes based on work 

    Identify properly the pipe fittings according to the Materials 

    Perform properly the types of pipe Joining methods referring to the pipes materials  

  • Learning Outcome 4: clip the pipework

    Objectives:

    By the end of this learning outcome, the trainees will be able to:

    Select Clips properly according to the sizes of pipes

    Select Drill bit properly according to the wall plug and screws

    Perform Clips and Clipping techniques properly according to the works

  • Learning Outcome 5: Test pipe system

    Objectives:

    By the end of this learning outcome, the trainees will be able to:

    Test Pressure appropriately according to the works

    Test Leakage properly according to the works

    Test Gravity properly according to the works


  • Learning Outcome 6: Finish the work

    Objectives:

    By the end of this learning outcome, the trainees will be able to:

    Clean the work place properly

    Clean and store tools and equipment properly in their respective places

    Prepare Relevant reports properly according to the works
