INTRODUCTION
Dear Trainers,
Rwanda TVET Board is pleased to present the Trainer guide of cakes and tortes making for level
five in Food processing, Sector of Agriculture and Food processing. This book serves as a guide to
competence-based teaching and learning to ensure consistency and coherence in the learning of
cakes and tortes making content. The Rwandan educational philosophy is to ensure that learners
achieve full potential at every level of education, which will prepare them to be well integrated in
society and exploit employment opportunities.
Specifically, the TVET curriculum was reviewed to train quality trainers who will confidently and
efficiently implement the Competence Based Curriculum in Technical Secondary School education.
The rationale of the changes is to ensure that TSS graduates are qualified for job opportunities and
further studies in Higher Education in different programs under education career advancement.
