This core module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude to be acquired by the learner to perform basics of plumbing; prepare materials, tools and Equipment; demonstrate basics of pipe connection; demonstrate basics of sanitary appliances and rain water tank installation.
- Teacher: Marie Chantal MUKANEZA
Course Summary: Basic Plumbing
The Basic Plumbing course introduces learners to the fundamental principles, tools, materials, and techniques used in plumbing works. It focuses on the installation, maintenance, and repair of water supply systems, drainage systems, and sanitary fittings. Learners are trained to interpret plumbing drawings, identify plumbing materials, and apply safety practices while performing tasks.
The course covers essential topics such as measuring, cutting, and joining pipes; installing fixtures like sinks, toilets, and taps; understanding water distribution and drainage systems; and applying troubleshooting skills to common plumbing problems. Practical exercises are emphasized to build hands-on skills that meet industry standards.
Upon completion, learners will have the basic knowledge and practical competence required to carry out plumbing tasks safely and effectively, preparing them for entry-level roles in construction and maintenance or further specialization in plumbing and related fields.
- Teacher: JACQUES NZAMUKWEREKA
This module introduces the fundamental concepts of plumbing, including tools, materials, systems, and basic installation techniques used in water supply and drainage. Learner will gain practical skills for identifying, assembling, and maintaining plumbing components safely and effectively.

The Bench Work (MATBW301) module equips learners with the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to perform accurate and safe bench work operations commonly used in manufacturing and mechanical engineering workshops. They will develop proficiency in handling hand tools, measuring instruments, and workshop equipment while adhering to occupational health, safety, and environmental standards. The course promotes problem-solving, attention to detail, and quality workmanship in producing components to specified dimensions and finishes.
- Teacher: NIYITEGEKA Jean Damascene
This course provides learners with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to perform benchwork operations in manufacturing and mechanical workshops. It emphasizes the correct use of hand tools, measuring instruments, and work-holding devices to produce accurate and quality components. Students will learn how to carry out basic operations such as filing, marking, sawing, drilling, tapping, threading, scraping, chiseling, and fitting.

- Teacher: ELIE NSENGIMANA
Bending operations refer to high-precision and complex metal forming processes, often used in industries like aerospace, automotive, or high-end electronics. These operations involve forming metal sheets like Steel, aluminum, titanium, copper, and advanced alloys or profiles into specific angles or shapes using specialized machinery and tools (CNC press brakes, hydraulic and electric presses, servo-driven machines).

Brick and block masonry wall elevation refers to the vertical view or face of a wall made from bricks or concrete blocks as seen from the front. It shows the arrangement, pattern, height, thickness, openings (doors and windows), and alignment of the masonry work.
Brick and block masonry walls provide strength, durability, fire resistance, and good appearance to buildings. The elevation helps builders ensure uniform bonding, level courses, and neat finishing for aesthetic and structural quality.
