Making a Good First Impression

As you may recall from lesson 8, "Orientation to your first day at work" and helping Mupenzi prepare for his first day in the workplace, first impressions are important, and it is important to be well prepared. To be well prepared, you need to have the right information, practice communicating with different people in the workplace, and know the equipment and tools required.

Instructions: After reading the checklists, you can copy them to your notebook, where you will keep track of their completion. Don't forget to bring your notebook to your IA so that you remember your 1st-day tasks and needed documents and make a great first impression!

In preparation for your first day, remember to:

□ Gather as much information as you can (for a refresher, you can revisit lesson 8 part 1).

□ Provide as much necessary information as you can. (for a refresher, you can revisit lesson 8 part 1).

□ Be ready to negotiate (tasks and responsibilities aligned with your trade and what you expect to learn).

□ Remember to communicate about your skillset and the technical competencies in your logbook.
